CROP
INSURANCE

Climate shocks can have devastating impacts on coffee farmers, which are rarely fully covered by insurers. With Blue Marble Microinsurance and Fairtrade, we cross-reference real-time and historic weather data to calculate which farms are affected and provide automated payouts. In Aguadas and Norte Caldas, Colombia, 4,700+ farmers and 15,000 hectares are already protected.

FARMERS
PENSIONS

Coffee farmers often have little financial security. By working with the Colombian government, Fairtrade, and the Aguadas Coffee Growers’ Cooperative, we offer 2,000+ local farmers access to a retirement saving plan. 170 are already receiving a pension. A similar initiative has now also been implemented in Indonesia.

MASTER
ORIGINS

To promote craftmanship and create unique taste, our Master Origins range applies sustainable local processes to rare, high-quality coffee cherries from selected origins. Our Master Origin Nicaragua daringly opts for ‘Black-Honey’ processing for a smooth texture and sweet cereal notes, while Master Origin India uses the monsoonal winds to swell and dry the beans for woody, spicy notes

REVIVING
ORIGINS

In some regions, coffee production has almost been lost because of conflicts, economic and environmental disasters. Through partnerships with farmers, NGOs and governments, we’re bringing back coffee growing to support local economies and preserve exquisite varieties.

MANY STORIES, ONE COMMITMENT

Each farmer and agronomist has a story to tell. Each is different, yet united by a shared commitment to quality and sustainability. Through access to training, we strive to provide tools tailored to the reality of the local land and community.
